SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING for LITURGICAL MINISTERS
We invite you to complete this training at your earliest convenience as it is now required by the diocese to participate in your ministry.
Eucharistic Ministers are to complete the training
by December 31, 2025
Cantors, Folk Group Members and Instrumentalists training will open June 1, 2025 and end March 31, 2026.
Adult Altar Servers, Liturgical Ministry Leaders and Lectors/Readers training will open Sept. 1, 2025 and end June 30, 2026.
Commentators, Greeters, Ushers and Home-bound Ministers training will open Jan.1,2026
and end Sept. 30, 2026.

Liturgical Minister Training: Music Ministry
All liturgical ministers must complete Safe Environment training and a criminal background check, reflecting the Diocese's commitment to protecting the vulnerable.
Though they may not regularly interact with children, youth, or vulnerable adults, liturgical ministers serve as safe adults within our parish community. This new policy, effective March 7, 2025, will be implemented over a 2.5-year period, allowing ample time for liturgical ministers in each category to complete the training.
Beginning June 7, 2025, members of Music Ministry, including cantors, choir members, and instrumentalists, must complete Safe Environment training by March 37, 2026.
We also remind Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to meet this requirement by December 37, 2025. Contact the Office of Safe Environment with any questions at safeenvironment@svrdio.org or call 375.470.7427.
