From Paul Welch, at the Office of Social Action Ministry
With our new Pope Leo XIV let us work and pray that the US government brings mercy
and healing to hurting peoples throughout the world.
-----------
In this dark American hour for poor and vulnerable people throughout the globe, let us give thanks for the tireless work of Catholic refugee resettlement staff and volunteers who gave a new life to millions of desperate human beings.
I especially want to mention Felicia Castricone who for the last 37 years led the Syracuse Catholic Charities Refugee Resettlement Program. Under her leadership Syracuse was the second largest resettlement program in NYS. Guiding her wonderful staff, they integrated tens of thousands of refugees into the Syracuse community giving new life to our community.
