ST. VINCENT'S LITURGICAL MINISTRIES

Altar Cloth Cleaning: Good liturgies are also contributed by clean vestments which are used in the liturgy. Our church has many vestments which are used by our priests, deacons, and altar servers. We have linens to

decorate/cover our altars as well as linens to be used during holy masses. All these need to be

taken care in a timely fashion so that they may available during the celebrations of liturgies. We

wash them, we iron them, and some need to be dry-cleaned.

Flower Watering Ministry

During Easter and Christmas seasons, the church is decorated with beautiful natural flowers. In

order these flowers to last for the whole season, they need to be watered and pruned to look

presentable. The ministry of the flowers add spiritual value to all those who attend in church to

know how much we love God whom we worship.

Ministry of Word:  At St. Vincent lectors proclaim sacred scripture at Mass, breaking open thoughtful proclamation of God’s Holy Word. Our congregation is composed of many nationalities. Sometimes the Holy Word is proclaimed in other languages than English. Those languages are Spanish, Dinka, Bembe, and Swahili to express diversity. If you would like to be a Lector, contact Alberta DeStephano at 315-479-8715 destefabert@gmail.com or fill the Liturgical Form.

Ministry of Holy Eucharist: At St. Vincent Eucharistic ministers are privileged to share in what is most central to our faith. They participate in the sacred liturgy by assisting the priest and deacon in the distribution of the Holy Communion under both species of bread and wine. If you would like to be a Eucharist Minister, contact Alberta DeStephano at 315-479-8715 destefabert@gmail.com or fill the Liturgical Form.

Ministry of Hospitality: At St. Vincent ushers and greeters welcome parishioners and visitors who gather for worship by their presence, by a word of welcome and by giving out the Sunday bulletins. If you would like to be an usher or a greeter, contact Alberta DeStephano at 315-479-8715 destefabert@gmail.com or fill the Liturgical Form .

Ministry of Serving: At St. Vincent, altar servers assist the priest at Mass as did acolytes in the early church. In our parish both boys and girls perform their function with dedication, graciousness and commitment. If you would like to be an altar server, contact Bang Ayeil at 315-449-7724 bangdit7@gmail.com or fill the Liturgical Form.

Ministry of Music: Musicians make use of instruments and voices to support the parish congregation in praising God in songs. Music belongs to the assembly, is integral to liturgy, and helps make our worship worthy of the Lord. At. St. Vincent we have two kinds of music: Traditional Music which is featured at Saturdays4:00PM Mass (Contact: Anthony Scro at 315-463-8460) and Folk Group featured on Sundays 9:30AM Mass ( Contact: Pat Pilon at 315-256-2776).

Ministry of Assembly: All who gather for worship and who share in the celebration of Eucharist also share in the ministry. St. Paul refers to Christians as a “priestly people” who share with the ordained, ministerial priesthood in bringing the Lord present upon the altar and offering him to his Father as the best possible gift we are privileged to offer. Today we are not mere spectators but participants in the sacred action which re-enacts both Calvary and the Last Supper, and which makes it possible for us to be in touch with our God.

Liturgical Committee (LT): At St. Vincent de Paul Parish, LT functions primarily as an advisory body to pastor in liturgical matters in the parish. LT exists principally to enhance the living experience of people of God as they come together to sustain the vision of the kingdom of God in Jesus Christ. The LT familiarizes itself with the revised General Instruction of the Roman Missal (G.I.R.M) which stresses the importance of directions about preparation of people’s hearts and minds, and of the places, rites, and texts for the celebration of the Most Holy Eucharist and other Sacraments of the church.

Liturgy Committee meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30PM to discuss and plan for upcoming Masses and special events. It also evaluates qualities of liturgical celebrations in the parish.
