St Vincent de Paul "Focus on our Parishioners" from the Parish/Alumni Newsletter- Kathy Morse

"Focus on our Parishioners"-Kathy Morse

I was born in Nedrow and have three sisters and one brother. My parents were communicants of St. James Church in the Valley where I received my first sacraments. I am married and have four daughters and three grandchildren. Approximately 12 years ago, I moved to Robinson Street and became a communicant of St. Vincent’s together with my parents. I currently have a half-sister as well as three stepsisters. I retired from Thermopatch where I worked as a machine operator for 33 years.

I volunteered in the office with Phyllis Egerbrecht for about five years before starting my position as church custodian, which has grown to include cleaning the rectory.

What I like best about St. Vincent’s is the friendliness of the parishioners. When Holy Trinity closed, my family and I found a homehere at St. Vincent’s for exactly that reason. My sister Lorraine helps me mop the church floors as her dog, Angus keeps us company. He is a great companion and friend to the staff. Lorraine also volunteers with me at the Fish Fry, and has lent a hand with decorating the church for Christmas. I still volunteer in the office, shredding outdated sensitive papers, handling Hope Appeal correspondence in addition to being a member of the Counting Team and the rosary prayer team at Sunday mass. I was recently ordained an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist.

I enjoy being part of this community and I appreciate Bob James asking me to assist with the 50/50 raffle when he is not available and highlighting my church involvement through this article.
