SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING for LITURGICAL MINISTERS

Safe Environment training is now required for all Liturgical Ministers effective March 1, 2025. With direction and support from Most Rev. Douglas J. Lucia, the Diocesan Review Board, the Safe Environment Committee, and the Office of Safe Environment, the Diocese has decided to require all liturgical ministers to complete Safe Environment training and undergo a criminal background check. This decision strengthens the Diocese’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding our most vulnerable. To read entire letter, visit www.syracusediocese.org/safe-environment. We invite you to complete this training at your earliest convenience as it is now required by the diocese to participate in your ministry.

Eucharistic Ministers are to complete the training by December 31, 2025

Cantors, Folk Group Members and Instrumentalists training will open June 1, 2025 and end March 31, 2026.

Adult Altar Servers, Liturgical Ministry Leaders and Lectors/Readers training will open Sept. 1, 2025 and end June 30, 2026.

Commentators, Greeters, Ushers and Homebound Ministers training will open Jan.1,

2026 and end Sept. 30, 2026.
